OUR FOUNDERS

Radiya, Mridula and Nafisa, the Founder Trustees of the charitable foundation, first met in 1994 and on exchanging ideas realized that they shared similar thoughts on training and rehabilitation.

They would have to develop their own brand, a unique program that would fulfill their vision.

The human spirit is one of ability, perseverance and courage that no disability can steal away.

"

Prayatna was born because of a singleness of purpose and a deep dedication towards creating a difference in the lives of people with challenges.

Radiya, Mridula and Nafisa, the Founder Trustees, first met in 1994 and on exchanging ideas realized that they shared similar thoughts on training and rehabilitation. Trained Special Educators by profession, they realized that to put their ideas into practice, they would have to create a facility which would incorporate these. They would have to develop their own brand, a unique program that would fulfill their vision.

What followed was an exhausting period of fund raising,  knocking at doors, explaining the cause at length and convincing people to help set up this Project. Finally with the help of friends and acquaintances, their dream came true in October 1997 when PRAYATNA was started.

7 young adults were the first to enrol. They worked out of a rented place in Mundhwa, Pune.

Minimal funds but big dreams was the driving force!!
